David was the environmental advisor on flood management in MAFF/Defra for 8 years where he played a key role in developing Government�¢â�¬â�¢s policy on wetlands. He had particular involvement in developing strategic approaches to coastal management that comply with the Habitats Regulations and Biodiversity commitments. He also developed initiatives for enhancing wetland SSSIs, and prepared guidance on environmental appraisal for flood management projects. More recently he has been on secondment to the Environment Agency Anglian Region where he was responsible for developing their approach to Estuary Strategies and the Habitat Creation Programme. Prior to his involvement in flood management and wetland policy, he worked mainly as an environmental consultant, overseeing EIAs and providing detailed ecological appraisals. He had a two year period as ecologist for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link project, where he managed major studies of protected species and habitat mitigation projects. He has also worked for the RSPB (both research and conservation planning).
Eiluned was a practicing planner who has provided a range of consultancy services since 1992. Previously she spent 3 years working as a planner in Alberta, Canada, 10 years in local planning authorities including a London Borough and 4 years for Milton Keynes Development Corporation.
